The new age ice cream makers, like those from Cuisinart, have made ice cream making so simple, you can do it as often as you can take the calories. Last night we simply used the base recipe from the Cuisinart website with one important modification:
Base Recipe from Cuisinart
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 qt. heavy cream or half and half (I used the heavy cream)
½ cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
Mix these ingredients together well and then stir in two shots of expresso. Freeze in the ice cream maker according to the directions. In 30 minutes we had soft ice cream.
This was a fabulous, refreshing dessert that doubled as the after-dinner coffee.
You can find the Cuisinart Ice Cream Makers in any department store or cooking stores. I recommend Great News for such kitchen necessities.
